We are no longer accepting RSVP's for the Christmas Party this Saturday, 12/9. We are sorry if you missed making this deadline, and we are only be able to accept those people to the party who RSVP'd.

We hope to see you at a future event such as the Progressive Breakfast which will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2024 which is also Superbowl Sunday. We will be providing more details on that in the coming weeks. Be sure to check the website and this message board for updates.

Thanks, Shawn for your understanding. This whole catering thing (either on or off-site of the caterers) is getting so out of hand for organizations like ours. We have a club that usually doesn't have a lot of expenses except for the rally but we usually break even or better on that if we plan our event carefully. The cost of food is a growing problem and is behind some discussion the club needs to have soon.

It's too bad because, for years, we've been able to have reasonable dues, provide lots of good ways for riders and enthusiasts to get together, learn new things about our bikes and riding, AND... have great times socializing in a variety of ways. "Ride to Eat and Eat to Ride," you know. But inflation, especially for food and food service is threatening to ruin our fun and limit what club members and leaders can do for each other.

More on this soon. As our Webmaster pointed, please RSVP for the Christmas Party and then honor that commitment because the club will be on the spot for paying for the number of meals we have to reserve ahead of the Party.

Thank you for your response back, and I'm glad that they are still welcome. You are right though about the price to bring a guest, $42 is very unreasonable. It seems that everything now is going that way and going out to do anything, especially with 4 kids is a small fortune. I did rsvp for 2, and I will let the kids draw straws if the wife doesn't want to go.

Hello Shawn,

The club is not consciously heading in 'a non family friendly way', quite the opposite as we understand having younger people participate in club events helps bring younger members into the club.

The reason we are not allowing any guests at this event, anyone beyond the two people your $35 annual membership dues pays for is because it is costing the club $42 per person for the Christmas Party event this year. That is much higher than in previous years. You are welcome to bring your children to the event this year, in fact anyone is welcome to bring a guest to the Christmas Party but they will need to pay $42 per person at the door for those extra people as well as RSVP for them. We MUST have RSVP's to make sure the venue has planned enough food for our event.

We believed that $42 per person extra cost would be unrealistic for most people to justify so we decided to exclude that as an option, however perhaps we were remiss in making that decision for everyone and we instead should have let everyone make their own decision to spend the extra $42 per person to bring more than 2 people to the Christmas Party.

If you would like to bring your children, or if anyone else would like to participate with more than 2 people understanding they will need to pay $42 per extra person at the door, they are welcome to contact me directly (webmaster@loebmwr.org) to RSVP for those extra people no later than the Monday, December 4, 2023 cut off date. Understand that if we take an extra reservation and someone doesn't show up, the club may still have to pay the venue the $42 for which we committed.

Can I ask why we are not able to bring other family members to the Christmas party this year? My kids look forward to this event every year, and they have been attending this event for the last 15 years. Just want to understand why the club is going in a non family friendly way.

Club Christmas Party, December 9, 2023

Postby LOEBMWR Admin » Sat Oct 28, 2023 6:18 pm

Our annual Christmas Party will be held at Skidmore's Holiday Bowl Saturday December 9th, 2023! The club is paying for the food and, along with the usual socializing, we will have a short business meeting. Holiday Bowl is located at 7515 Lomas Blvd NE, 87110 (MAP). We will have our own room for this event. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate any guests for this event, only the paid member and their '+1'.

Doors will open at 11:00 with food available starting at 11:30. This event is open to the first 80 people who CLICK HERE TO RSVP using our iVolunteer application. RSVP's are REQUIRED to attend this event and RSVP's will only be accepted via iVolunteer through midnight Monday, December 4th.

YOU MUST RSVP no later than midnight Monday, December 4th to participate in this event.
This is required so we can let the venue know how many people to prepare food for. If you are not able to RSVP online, email webmaster@loebmwr.org and indicate if your RSVP is for 1 or 2 people.

Food, soft drinks and coffee are free for all paid LOEBMWR members and their '+1' who RSVP, and there is also a full cash bar available. We will verify your membership at the door and you're welcome to join / renew your membership ($35 cash or check) at the event.

Heavy hors d'oeuvres served buffet style this year will consist of:
- Adobo Chicken Quesadillas: green chile, cheddar jack, caramelized onions, sour cream, pico de gallo
- Potato Skins: Crispy potatoes, cheddar jack, sour cream, applewood bacon, green onions
- Vegetable Spring Rolls: soy ginger sauce
- Pulled Pork Sliders: bbq pulled pork, coleslaw
- Green Chile Queso Dip: creamy cheese fondue, warm tortilla chips
