The weekend of October 6 through 8 will be a repeat of our popular annual club ride to Durango. We ride to Durango Friday afternoon October 6, arriving about 3 pm (or later), and stay 2 nights at the Siesta Motel. Saturday we will ride the loop from Durango - Silverton - Ouray - Telluride - Dolores - Durango (or ride that loop in reserve) and hopefully during the peak of the fall colors. This loop ride is about 225 miles and Google says it should take about 4:45 riding time. Then we will ride back home Sunday morning.
Everyone is on their own to make hotel reservations at the Siesta. You should make your reservations early because they are a popular motel, in a popular town, at a very popular time of year. We were able to get a block of 15 rooms held for us through the end of August at a reduced rate of $100 per night (plus taxes and etc.).
HOW TO BOOK YOUR ROOM. To get the Siesta discount room rate you need to contact Hannah at the Siesta, before August 31, at 970.799.5011. Let her know it is for the BMW motorcycle event and Hanna will set up the reservation directly in their system.
Friday night the club is buying club members some pizza (other menu options are available too) delivered to the Siesta motel parking lot at about 6:30. Be sure you let us know what you want to eat no later than 5:30. After the ride on Saturday, we usually meet in the parking lot to tell tall tales about our rides while relaxing with a cold beverage (or 2), followed by dinner someplace as a group or on your own - your choice. There is always the option to hop on the Durango trolley and go into town to have dinner at an as-yet-to-be-identified eatery. We can discuss that after the Saturday ride.PLEASE CLICK THIS LINK TO RSVP for the Durango Color RideIf you would prefer to travel with a group from Albuquerque to Durango, logistical details relative to meeting places and times will be posted here as the event approaches.
