Hi Sandy,

I would like to attend the Big Bend event, but do not see anywhere to sign up. Is signing up necessary, or can I just show up?

Frank Pierce and I have compiled some information about some rides, on both dirt and paved roads, in Big Bend that we might want do during out club outing to the area March 2 - 7.

For road warriors, check out this Google Map:

For dirt baggers, check out this one:

These rides are preliminary and may be updated in the future, so check back from time to time to see if anything has changed. If you have any comments or suggestions about these rides, or other rides we might want to do, please let us know.

At some point, I will produce KMZ and GPX files for these rides to aid with navigation.

BTW: The place we are staying, Terlingua Ranch Lodge (, is not holding rooms for us anymore but may still have some available. Better make your reservations soon, however, they may not be available forever.

Due to room availability issues we had to change the dates of the Big Bend Adventure to Saturday March 2nd through Thursday March 7. Sorry for the confusion!

Join LOEBMWR this Spring on everyone’s epic bucket list ride through the backcountry of Big Bend National Park. Start planning now for March 2 - 7th in Texas.

We will base ourselves out of the Terlingua Ranch Lodge ( which is holding a block of 12 rooms for us until January 2nd. Call them up at 432-371-3146 to reserve your spot and be sure to mention you are with the LOEBMWR. Double rooms will cost $84/night including tax, a 25% discount off the regular price. They also have RV and tent camping if you prefer those accommodations.

This place is located not far Big Bend National Park and is also close to Big Bend Ranch State Park. There is GREAT riding in the area, both for road warriors and dirt baggers. Note that the last 3 miles of the road to the Lodge is well maintained, graded gravel. The management asked me to say that the Ranch is located in a residential area and asked that we not ride around off the main road.

Additional information about travel to TX and about the various road and dirt rides in the area will be forthcoming as the date approaches.

Many thanks to Frank Pierce ( for motivating this event and doing a bunch of work to make it happen!
