More winners!
ArtGarciaLibraries (2).jpg

Art and Lynda Garcia recently visited their 48th New Mexico Library, completing the 2019 Riding Challenge! Congratulations!

Prior to that, Jeff Clemens also completed the Riding Challenge. Jeff made it to 46 of the libraries and then involuntarily had to quit riding for awhile. 46 of 48 is close enough to qualify as a winner! Congratulations Jeff!

I never got a photo with Jeff in it, but I got a lot of pictures of his fine looking motorcycle!

Here are the latest results of the Challenge:
From the looks of things, that might be the end of the 2019 Riding Challenge. Unless we get a surprise, last-minute entry, I don't expect any more results before the deadline Sunday November 3.

Thanks for playing!

PS: Any volunteers to run the 2020 Riding Challenge? Let me know.

We have a new Riding Challenge winner! James Lightfoot visited the Carnegie Public Library in Las Vegas New Mexico the other day, his 48th and final library visit of the Challenge. Congratulations James!

James joins Jack Dannenberg in the winners circle but there are a few more Riders likely to complete the Challenge before it ends November 4th.

The latest Challenge results can be found here:

With the improved weather of late there has been some activity on the Riding Challenge front. Seven Riders have completed 36 Rider-Rides. Two folks have even made it to the Woolworth Community Library in fabulous Jal, NM. James Lightfoot and Jeff Clemens have both made the arduous journey to that remote community in the far southeast corner of our state, a location about as far from Albuquerque as you can get and still be in the Land of Enchantment. The rest of us had better get crackin and get down there before it gets too hot.

Here is a link to the spreadsheet with the official Riding Challenge results:

Riding Challenge 2019 - Libraries of New Mexico has begun!

Sponsored by Land of Enchantment BMW Riders and Sandia BMW

Get smart! By visiting the libraries in the 2019 Riding Challenge you are bound to absorb some knowledge, right? Visit all 48 libraries and win the accolades of your peers and a fabulous prize at next year’s Christmas Party.

It seems like every dinky little town in New Mexico has a tiny, local, community library. We usually blow through these towns on the main drag and miss all of the colorful local flavor that resides just off the highway. Well, the libraries in these towns tend to be located right in the heart of all that local color so get off the road and into some color.

You have from now until midnight on Sunday November 3, 2019 to visit as many libraries on the Riding Challenge as you can. At each library, take a photograph of you, your bike and a library sign. Send your photos to Sandy Ballard at anytime, but no later than midnight November 3.

Check back here from time to time for updates or corrections to the Rides. Also, feel free to post comments about your Riding Challenge rides here and/or on the club Facebook page (

You don't have to ride the same bike on every ride. Mix and match, as you like. The Riding Challenge is not a race; the order in which Riders complete the Challenge is not considered. You must be a member of LOEBMWR to win prizes. You can join for a paltry $35/yr at
