Some of you who either attended this year's rally or heard about it, know that it didn't go as well as we would have liked. It has become apparent that the rally as we have known it has ridden into the sunset. Without going into details, there were several disappointments, the biggest ones being that attendance was at an all-time low, we had very few volunteers, and problems arose with some of the rooms at Sipapu. Times have changed and either we change or we get left behind. Kind of like being left at the side of the road with a flat tire while you watch your riding buddies disappear over the horizon.
1) We're going to try a new venue at a nice hotel in Taos who can accommodate us and our guests with not only rooms, but breakfasts, a meeting area for presentations and dinner---all for a package price.
2) We want to simplify the rally to the extent that very, very few volunteers are needed.
3) The focus will be on riding all the same great roads (using improved GPS and paper maps) our rally has always featured, socializing, and a few familiar specials like door prizes and a presentation or two that will interest riders.
4) We'll probaby produce a sticker to add to your bike's visibility and possibly sell rally shirts if the interest is strong enough to make it worthwhile.
5) There should be camping options in the area for those who love to wake up to a brisk Northern New Mexico morning snuggled in their sleeping bag. Of course campers will be welcome at our motel venue to "kick lies and tell tires."
6) More... details to come as we start to meet with interested club members to work out the details. Let us know what you think at the Christmas Party and Progressive Breakfast, 2023.
