In addition to my volunteer work with LOEBMWR, I also volunteer behind the scenes at the New Mexico Dulcimer Festival. This year, it takes place October 28-29 at Sandia Presbyterian (MAP) with workshops for everyone from absolute beginners to advanced players during the day and two great (with two different sets of performers and music) concerts each evening from 7 to 9 pm.
Wait! What's a dulcimer??? Check out these VIDEO 1 & VIDEO 2 demonstrating a short introduction to these two uniquely American instruments. But don't think it's all about Old Time Music. Today's top players (we're featuring four of them plus a few more regional talents) run the gamut from traditional to Celtic to jazz to classical and all the way to contemporary music. You'll be amazed whether you try out learning to play these instruments (loaners are available) to marveling at the virtuosity of these young, exciting musicians at the top of their game.
Details, schedules, and other general information available HERE. If you're ready to register for workshops, follow this LINK.
If you want to see the concerts (the best $15 you'll ever spend on a concert!), then just show up at Sandia Presbyterian both nights and buy your tickets at the door.
Please spread the word among your music loving friends and family to support this festival that furthers the appreciation and enjoyment these unique instruments deserve. Thanks, RJ
