Bavarian Mountain Weekend
Tuesday, December 7, 2021

We had a very successful RIDING RALLY this year, Friday through Sunday, September 10th through 12th, 2021.

Thanks to all whom attended - we had well over a 100 attendees and multiple vendors participate in our Rally this year, more than we had hoped for and expected!

The Land of Enchantment BMW Riders invite you to attend the 2022 annual Bavarian Mountain Weekend Rally, one of the most unique takes on a BMW and all-brand motorcycle rally in the West. Our Rally is still held at the Sipapu Ski & Summer Resort in the northern New Mexico mountains of the Carson National Forest which offers beautiful views and awesome roads for riding!

The 2022 Rally will take place, as always the weekend after Labor Day, Friday September 9th through Sunday September 11th, 2022.

Check out this great article about our Rally as published in the BMW ON Magazine.

We're planning to back our popular Mexican dinner Saturday and giving everyone a good taste (not a full meal) of our signature Green Chile Stew Friday night.

Never been to Sipapu Lodge? Call (1-800-587-2240). Also, check out this map to find your way there and explore the area: Sipapu Map

The Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort is located about 25 miles southeast of Taos on NM 518. Our rally officially begins on Friday morning and ends first thing Sunday.

We are planning numerous do-it-yourself ride routes for local rides as well as all-day rides all over Northern and Central New Mexico. We will provide paper maps, GPS downloads and Google Maps for everyone. We also invite anyone interested to do some off road riding too, lots of dual sport areas available to check out. CLICK HERE to view / download a map of one suggested dual sport ride. We plan to have more dual sport ride maps available on-site.

Your rally registration fee typically entitles you to:

  • Free coffee available in the lodge
  • Superb (and FREE) on-site camping
  • Some RV spaces with hookups and dry camping are available, call the Lodge
  • Grand prizes awarded Saturday night
  • Green Chili Friday night snack (you can round out your dinner by ordering extras at the Lodge Cafe)
  • Mexican cuisine prepared by authentic Northern New Mexico cooks for Saturday night dinner
  • DJ-style musical entertainment every night by the river to accompany lots of "Telling Tires and Kicking Lies" socializing

Also available on site at Sipapu:

  • A café and grill featuring tasty sandwiches and New Mexican cooking. Open 8 am to 7 pm Friday, 8 am - 1 pm Saturday.
  • Lodge bar and package liquor sales available [NOTE: Alcoholic beverages consumed in and around the Lodge must be purchased at Lodge due to New Mexico State Liquor Regulations. Beverages purchased off-site may be consumed away from the Lodge]
  • A convenience store selling gasoline, beverages, and a limited food selection.
  • Other restaurants and stores are located in the nearby towns of Taos, Mora, and Penasco.
  • If lodging is full at Sipapu, check out Taos lodging and Sagebrush Inn

Yes, there are lots of reasons for attending, but perhaps the best reason of all is the people. Begin planning for a great weekend with your kind of people - motorcyclists!

These are some pictures of Jackson Watkins, age 7, who attended our 2016 Rally. Jackson also wrote a short note about his adventure. Thanks to Jackson and his father, Jon, for sharing the pictures and the note.

We're glad you had such a great time!
