Take the scenic route, old Route 66, get off I-40 at the Mesita exit and then it is all seconday roads, including NM 53 over the continental divide to the picnic/camping area at El Morro National Monument. 35.036683, -108.337831
The club will provide a variety of Subway sandwiches, and chips available to you at the picnic area, along with some apples and oranges. Bring your own own soft drings, water, etc. there are also vending machines at the El MOrro Visitors Center.
While there, you can check out the visitors center, take the leisurely walk past Inscription Rock, and the ancient ruins at the top of the bluff
