Ice Cream Ride, Glenwood, NM – May 17-24

2024 Annual 'Ice Cream Ride'

A great way to start off the riding season with a pleasurable journey to Glenwood, NM on May 17th to the 19th. Or take the longer adventure ride over some rocky roads in the high country of the Black Range. Our ‘Ice Cream Ride’ is headquartered at the Los Olmos Lodge where you can relax next to Whitewater Creek, walk around the nearby trout pond or go hiking upstream at the Catwalk Recreation area.

The club may be providing a meal Friday and / or Saturday night…stay tuned for updates on that. Some food items, and regular and premium gasoline are available at the Trading Post across from the Los Olmos Lodge. The Alma Grill is about 5 miles north of the Lodge in the little town of Alma.

We usually arrive throughout the day Friday (some opt to spend an extra day and arrive Thursday), ride Hwy 191 in Arizona Saturday or do some dual sport dirt riding in the area, and then head back home Sunday. Bring your favorite beverage to enjoy (a package liquor / bar is located at the south end of Glenwood) as we congregate in the afternoon to recap the day’s ride, and around the campfire in the evening. There is also an opportunity each evening to watch the bats leave their nearby home to go out for their night of feasting on insects.

You can reserve your Los Olmos Lodge cabin or hotel room now, but you’ll have to call (575-539-2224) or email them and let them know what cabin you would like. There won’t be any availability shown on their website because they are temporarily holding all of the rooms for us. They will start releasing any unoccupied rooms as we get closer to the ride weekend, so reserve your room sooner than later to assure you have a place to stay!
